7 DIY Valentine's Day Decor Idea's-- I turned items I already had on hand into a way to add some valentines love to our house | graceandthane.com

I love to celebrate holiday’s, of all kinds! I start the decorating about a month out, and I really like to make as much of our decor as I can. Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, so today I’m going to share a few of those DIY’s with all of you!

I made most of these out of materials I already had on hand from previous projects.

1. Painted Mason Jars

Simply brush on a couple of coats of paint onto your mason jar of choice. Additionally, you can take some sandpaper and brush it across the lettering to give it a more lived in look.

I love to add some fresh flowers since these normally go in the center of our table. Ahh, to be able to wake up and smell those flowers during breakfast. A fantastic way to start our day!

2. Heart Stamped Burlap Table Runner

I found this in Target’s lovely holiday dollar section a couple of years back, for only $3! You could very easily make this with a plain burlap table runner, some heart (or shape of choice) rubber stamps and paint!

3. “Love Is Sweet” Burlap and Lace Bunting Banner

Quick fact about this cute little DIY, these originally were a part of our wedding decor! 2 burlap bunting banners that I then added the lace overlay to with fabric glue. My mother in law suggested the “Love Is Sweet” addition to tone of them  with peel and stick lettering, and it turned out wonderful!

Fast track a year later, and I add some felt hearts that I had to the unlettered bunting banner to turn it into a valentine delight.

4. Yarn and Felt Heart Mini Garland

I love this magnetized chalkboard. It didn’t use to be a chalkboard though. With the quick addition of this peel and stick chalkboard surface to the top of the old surface, it is  now a holiday decor staple on our bookshelf.

Pinterest has so many great idea’s for ways to add pzazz to your chalkboards, and these mini garlands are one of them. So with the leftover felt hearts I had on hand, I super glued them to some yarn  and called it a day.

5. Ombre Heart Cone Tree

This cute little tree DIY I found on I Gotta CreateShe added a cute little garland to hers which add a little whimsy to it. I decided to go ombre with mine, and had my hearts lie a little flatter.

6. Door Wreath

Another thing I love is a good holiday wreath! I must have one for every holiday (not quite but just about).

I took a wire wreath form and wrapped it in a grey yarn.  The love wood cutout was found at Walmart, which I then  painted pink and super glued it to the wreath.

With a wooden dowel I had I added felt cutouts to each end (again with the leftover hearts!) after I positioned the dowel diagonally through the wreath.

7. Chalkboard Conversation Heart Bunting Banner

This was purchased at Target and given to me by my mother in law, so it’s not a DIY. With some pastel colored felt and ribbon of choice you could definitely re-create this and create your own conversation heart bunting banner.
