Some of y’all might be wondering where I’ve been this past month and a half! I apologize for my absence, but I promise it’s for a very good reason. I’ve gone back to school for the time being, and for about the next 6 or so months I’ll be trying to juggle everything that needs to get done, and it’s been a struggle thus far. I haven’t been able to post as much as I normally like to, but it’s only temporary and I hope to get back to my usual posting schedule asap.
I’ve finally, after many years of dreaming, purchased a patio set! I know I know, it’s such a materialistic accomplishment. Ever since I’ve had my first place of my own, I’ve dreamed of sitting out on the patio reading out a book on a nice sunny day, while my kids play in the yard and my husband grills burgers. For some reason or another, it’s not been a priority to have the patio set, until now!
Recently after moving here to the north country, I decided to redecorate. The patio set was one of the recent additions we added to our outdoor area. I fell in love with this Latigo 3 piece Rattan patio set from Target. Even better, while taking a few days to decide to buy or not, it went on sale. Talk about a sign!
After arriving in the mail and assembling the set, I knew I made the right choice. I love everything about it, except for one thing. The cushions don’t have any way of keeping put during our windy days, and boy oh boy, the north country experiences some very high winds! So being the crafty mama that I am, I knew I could come up with a solution.
Is really quite simple. Tie-ons that I have sewn into the top layer of fabric to allow me to secure the pillows to the chairs back. Sure you can just go buy cushions that way, but these are the ones that came with the chairs, and the cost of adding tie-ons is cheaper then new cushions. Plus, it’s ridiculously easy!
With some scissors, gross grain ribbon, and a few hand stitches, I was able to transform my cushions into ones that can withstand this crazy NNY wind in about 10 minutes flat.
That’s all there is to it folks! 😀
